Fall Craft: Leaf Placemats
Supplies:
- Wax paper
- Scissors
- Leaves
- Large book, dictionary or encyclopedia
- Iron (have an adult help)
- Paper grocery bag
- Gather some fall leaves.
- Put each leaf between two pieces of waxed paper, then between the pages of a heavy book to flatten them.
- When the leaves have flattened, take them out of the book and remove the waxed paper.
- Cut the paper grocery bag in half. Throw away the bottom of the bag.
- Put one piece of the paper bag on a safe place to iron. (Get an adult to help!)
- Cut two sheets of wax paper to placemat size. Put one sheet over the paper bag, and arrange your leaves on the wax paper.
- Put the second placemat-sized sheet of wax paper over the leaves, and cover with the second piece of paper bag.
- Heat your iron to medium setting. Iron over the bag, checking to see if the wax paper has stuck together. When it has, stop and let the paper cool.
- Trim around the edges. It's especially fun to use decorative scissors for a fancy edge.
