Supplies:

  • Black construction paper
  • Wax paper
  • Crayon pieces (fall colors)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Iron (have an adult help!)

Instructions:

  1. Cut your black construction paper into 5" or 6" squares. You will need two squares for each "leaf."
  2. Put two pieces of the paper together, trace a leaf in the center of the top square and then cut out the leaf shape with the two pieces together. You'll have two identical pieces of paper, each with a leaf-shaped hole in the middle.
  3. Use a plastic knife to "shave" crayons into small pieces. Put the crayon shavings between two pieces of wax paper. Use a warm iron to melt the shavings between the wax paper. Cut the wax paper so it will fit between the two squares of construction paper.
  4. To make the "stained glass," place one square of construction paper on a table and glue your wax paper "glass" to that square. Then put the second square of construction paper over the top, making sure the leaf pattern matches up. Glue the squares together.
